Rental Houses for the Successful Small Investor
by Suzanne P. Thomas
This is one of my favorite books, I would highly recommend picking up this book if you are thinking about owning rental property. Suzanne writing style is easy to read, she spends just enough time covering the basic topics like property selection and down payments. My favorite chapters from this book are “Rate of Return on Rental Property”, “Qualifying Potential Tenants”, and “Day to Day Details”. Suzanne does a good job presenting topics in a practical and easy to understand way, and she seems to ask all the right questions that new investors would easy miss during the early stages.

by Brian F. Edwards
This book is by far one of the best references out there related to owning and operating rental properties. Edwards breaks down all the most important topics, step by step, making it easy to deal with just about any issue that might arise for a landlord. The more interesting topics include: dealing with deposits, increasing income, handling disputes, dealing with evictions, and insurance coverage.
Home Buying For Dummies
by Eric Tyson
I’ve read a few dozen books on topics related to real estate investment prior to making my first purchase. This one has proven to be invaluable, and I still use it as an everyday reference.
